Welcome to Dollywood and a new season of fun and excitement! Dollywood was celebrating the "I Will Always Love You'' Festival during this tour around the park. This is Part One. In Part One - going to be sticking around Showstreet, Rivertown Junction, The Village and Country Fair Areas - the rest of the park in Part Two. I will share some highlights from the Dollywood Express and I've got a Nightflight Expedition construction site progress update from March 25th - it's changed a lot since that time.

PART TWO: I’ll be finishing up my tour of the park to catch all the little details and dΓ©cor updates that have popped up since last season. In Wildwood Grove, I take a peek at the construction fence for Nightflight Expedition...and continue the park tour. Then, we’re heading into Craftsman’s Valley for a seat at the Valley Theater to enjoy a full performance from the Smoky Mountain String Band. After that, we’ll take a walk through the Emporium to share some highlights of the new 2026 merchandise—including some early looks at the Flower & Food collection.

NightFlight Expedition!

Last fall, I published a video detailing some of what we might experience in NightFlight Expedition - based off of the only other Mack Rocking Boat attraction - so check it out to get an idea of what we can expect out of this incredible new attraction!

If you're curious about Dollywood's Next Huge Ride - This is It!!

Check out my blog post with all the details that I think I know.

πŸ’΅πŸ’ΈDollywood's Splash Country & DW Resorts are going Cashless πŸ’ΈπŸ’΅

UPDATE! - Dollywood Resorts will also go Cashless - JUNE 11, 2026!

----- Original Blog Post Below -----

Hi Everyone,

Dollywood has made the decision to go cashless at Splash Country.    If you have cash, you're able to use a kiosk (see kiosk images below) that you can transfer that cash onto a ReadyCARD Prepaid Visa OR a ReadyCARD Prepaid Mastercard that you can use outside the park if you have money leftover at the end of the day.  Pro Tip:  Use it ASAP, or you may forget you have it!

Read All About Cashless at Dollywood's website - Click here.

Examples of ReadySTATION® machine that you'll see at the water park

πŸ”ΈWhy are they doing this?
DOLLYWOOD RESPONSE:
By transitioning to only accepting electronic payments such as debit cards, credit cards, and mobile methods like Apple Pay, Dollywood's Splash Country will provide a faster, safer and more Guest-friendly experience. Hosts will spend less time handling cash and more time serving Guests.

WUAD RESPONSE:
This has been a trend among amusement park operators for the last decade or so.  It's a cost-saving measure for several reasons.  I worked in the merchandise department at Opryland - doesn't feel as long ago as it was, but their money dealing operation was quite large.  There was a 'bank' called Cash Control in the middle of the park where employees would go to drop off carefully counted money from registers at the restaurants and shops, pick up neatly wrapped dollars and coins for the next shift and pick up paper pay checks.  Every park has to have their own version of that, and that requires a significant amount of labor.  Labor that can be done by a machine!  I bet if you a visit a bank frequently in your everyday life you've noticed many banks have scaled back their humans!

When I became aware of this trend I wondered if Dollywood would do this, and how would they do it.  Starting at Splash Country makes it a bit more manageable than trying to start this at the amusement park.  As far as I know, this is the first Herschend Property to go completely cashless....let me know if that's not the case.

πŸ”ΈWill this happen at Dollywood too?
I don't know what their plans are, but I think the signs point that direction.

πŸ”ΈWhat about other Herschend Properties - like Silver Dollar City, Kentucky Kingdom, and the recently acquired parks like Kennywood and Silverwood?
Again, I don't know what their plans are, but if it works out well at Dollywood, it feels reasonable to me to expect them to expand it further.  When and If that decision is made, then I would not expect a mid-season change.  Notice this is rolling out at the start of the season for Splash Country.

πŸ”ΈπŸ”ΈDollywood has put a Frequently Asked Questions on their website - Click Here To Read FAQ

Here are a few highlights....

πŸ”ΈWhat types of payment does DWSC accept?
Beginning May 16, Dollywood's Splash Country will solely accept electronic payments. These include all major credit and debit card providers (Visa, MasterCard, AMEX, Discover) and secure mobile payment systems (Apple Pay, Google/Android Pay, Samsung Pay). We do not accept cash, however, Guests can transfer cash onto a prepaid card through a simple and safe process at several Cash to Card Kiosks located throughout Dollywood's Splash Country.

πŸ”ΈIs there a fee to use the cash to card kiosks and prepaid cards?
The Cash to Card Kiosks are free to use; there is no fee to load cash onto the prepaid card. If the card is used regularly, there is no recurring fee. After 92 consecutive days of no transaction activity, however, a $3.95 fee will be charged each month. To avoid this fee, simply use the card within 91 days.

πŸ”ΈHow can i check my balance on my card?
Notice they have their own FAQ Section - check that out - Click Here

What do you think of Dollywood going cashless?  No doubt it will be an adjustment at first, but everyone will eventually get used to it.

  • Till & Harvest Menu:   Cheeseburger/fries, Chicken Tenders/fries, Smoky Mountain Nachos, Wildwood Grove Rice Bowl & White Bean Queso Dip.  See pic....

  • Mystery Mine: Behind‑the‑scenes upgrades including new control systems.  Now Open!

Nightflight Expedition

The new hybrid coaster + river rapids attraction continues construction in Wildwood Grove. As of 4/17/2026, the park suggests a possible mid‑June opening. A soft‑opening is planned for select passholder tiers.

Many people online are skeptical of this opening date given the appearance of the construction site.  Once construction concludes, the ride will undergo a commissioning process.  The timeframe depends on a lot of variables. The park is still saying ''spring'' which technically goes until mid-June - So We Will Seeeee!  Stay tuned to my channels as I will report on any updates from the park.

Check out my video for a closer look at the only other existing Mack Rocking Boat attraction in operation - Mission Bermuda!  The next video, below, is my progress update from March 25, 2026.

πŸ”ΆDollywood's 2026 Exclusive Ride Time + Golden Hours + Golden Events - What's The Difference? - Info You'll Want 2 Know πŸ”Ά

Hi Everyone,

Let's discuss Exclusive Ride Time (ERT), Golden Events and Golden Hours for 2026. I notice these three mostly separate things are often confused for one another, so let's first define each of these.

πŸ’ Exclusive Ride Time (ERT) - This is special time set aside for those Gold & Diamond Passholders who register, as well as Resort Guests who register for this Once-A-festival event. You get to enjoy select attractions before the park opens to the public OR after the park closes. ERT falls under Golden Events.

πŸ’ Golden Hour - Every operating day, for the first hour, you can use your Gold or Diamond Pass as if it were a TimeSaver Pass, allowing you a so-called 'front of the line' pass, that are popular at many amusement parks these days. This includes all rides that offer the TimeSaver option. No registration required - just show the attendant your pass. Link to Dollywood's TimeSaver Page - lots of specifics including which rides - click HERE.

πŸ’ Golden Events - these are less frequent events. They are usually well advertised in advance and can include things like the Media Day event on Opening Day, or special events through the season. ERT falls under Golden Events.

Here's a handy infographic from Dollywood with more specifics...
For Exclusive Ride Time (ERT), ERT's are held on one Saturday per festival.

Below is an example of how ERT works, straight from an official Dollywood.com event page for the "I Will Always Love You" Early Ride Time Event for 2026. The selected attractions for each ERT event will change for each event.
🚨🚨 NEXT EVENT:
Saturday, March 28, 2026 - Smoky Mountain Christmas 2025 ERT - for the Link on Dollywood's website... Click Here

I hope that helps to clear up any confusion around these topics! Please let me know if something is off or incorrect — it could easily be! :)

Festival Overview

Dollywood opens with a special Passholder Day, which also includes guests staying at Dollywood’s resorts. This year, Dolly is expected to appear and parade through the park around 3 PM on Friday. The park opens to everyone on Saturday, March 13th.

The festival celebrates the legacy of Dolly’s iconic song “I Will Always Love You,” originally written as a farewell to Porter Wagoner as she stepped into her own spotlight. Expect art installations, culinary creations, and special entertainment throughout the park.

Operating Calendar

The park is open every day during the I Will Always Love You Festival, with varying hours:

  • 10 AM – 7 PM
  • 10 AM – 8 PM
  • 9 AM – 11 PM (select days)

Trolley to Dollywood

Opening Day 2025 saw extremely heavy crowds due to Dolly’s appearance — parking lots even closed for a few hours. Spring Break season also brings high attendance.

Pro Tip: If Dolly is expected to be at the park, consider taking the Pigeon Forge Trolley instead of driving. It drops you off right at the front gate and can save a lot of stress.

Watch my video guide for everything you need to know about the trolley system.

Transportation Names Explained

  • Parking Lot Tram: Runs between Dollywood/Splash Country parking lots and the front gate.
  • Resort Trolleys: Shuttle guests between the resorts and both parks.
  • Pigeon Forge & Gatlinburg Trolleys: Public transit systems serving major tourist areas.

Fun Facts & Quiz

Dollywood opened in 1986 — that was Season One. In 2026, the park is in its 41st season, and Dolly turns 80.

Quiz: In 2056… How old will Dolly be? What season will Dollywood be celebrating? What year of operation will it be?
